PNG is the file format for the lossless, portable, well-compressed storage of raster images. Although the initial motivation for developing PNG was to replace GIF, the format provides some new useful features not available in GIF. PNG compression is significantly better that GIF's compression, which means that you will get faster-loading images. This format is just perfect for e-mail attachments. PNG supports a large range of bit depth, from monochrome to 64-bit color. While the PNG format compresses the size of the picture, it does not diminish its quality. Variable transparency, cross-platform control of image brightness, and 2-dimensional interlacing might be the reason to change over from GIF to PNG. Our software allows image conversion from a variety of formats to PNG format. This format is one of many supported by ImageConverter Plus.
