Very few people get the chance to go on safari, but anyone can go to a zoo. Zoos are great locations to take pictures as they present us with a variety of subjects – both animals and people watching them. The biggest challenge for photographers at zoos is to avoid fences or fake-looking backgrounds. Cropping your zoo photos will make great animal portraits – sometimes even better than the ones taken during a safari. Zoo animals are less active than wild ones, so where else can you take a portrait of a lion with his mouth open and not being scared of getting into that mouse? The main idea is to make your photos look real so that no one could guess that it’s just a zoo. Be sure to show off your zoo photos. Upload them to your Picasa albums to share with friends. If you intend to publish your photos on the web, protect your images adding a watermark.
